Mars Rover Robotics Design Team Portfolio
Design teams at Waterloo are a great way to gain real experience with like-minded people to build a project.
I knew that to get it right I was going to have to replicate the viewing conditions of someone from the future, so I grabbed my space helmet from the closet, created a new Figma document, and got to work.
In One Year
The Mechanical Team designs and manufactures part for the UW Mars Rover robotics team. There are a few key objectives for the rover:
- Robotic arm to complete tests
- Drive train to allow for vehicle to move across Utah sand Science to conduct test
Design Cycle
Led the assembly of this section of the robotic arm. It was important to assign work to the group members, manufacture parts myself, and assembly together. As well, I dealt with the science Test Tube Sub-Assembly.
As well, I used processes such as 3D printing to create parts for the team. This was great to have a chance to learn engineering fabrication techniques, something I did not have a chance to do during the covid years.
As time goes on and we head towards the competition, this page will continued to be updated.
